I am coming close to the half way point of my trip, and as we depart Las Vegas and head for our next spot, I can’t help but be excited. The next spot on our trip is Zion National Park, one of the darkest skies in America and with the Persiod Meteor Shower coming up, I can’t wait to get there.
I was having a hard time finding a campsite close to Zion, but one of the campgrounds in Zion was first come first serve and with hopes not very high that we would get one of those, I made a reservation at a site about 30 minutes away and that is where we headed. When I made the reservation, the one thing that worried me the most was a warning that said “no shade” and with temps over 100 degrees it was a major concern. When we arrived at the campsite every concern came to fruition, the site was basically in the middle of the dessert with a large reservoir about 100 yards away. This simply wouldn’t do for entire week.
With the reserve site a major bust, we made our way to Zion to check out our options. We stopped at a local restaurant and started doing some research, when we found a great place on the east side of Zion. I will have a full review of the campsite soon for all of you, as it is the best site I have stayed at this whole trip.
We arrived a little past 5 at night, setup camp and headed back to Zion for sunset. It is looking like a great week ahead of us, that is if the clouds stay away!
Since I will be here for a week, I’m going to suspend the daily updates for now and instead try and catch up on some Milky Way posts for everyone. I would also like to thank everyone for following me along this trip, it has been shocking to me to see the response and support from everyone and I can’t thank everyone enough! Make sure you are following me on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter for even more content from my Galactic50 journey!
