Photographing in Downtown Charleston2 min read time

Each time I go to photograph in Charleston, SC, I always make sure to save time to photograph 

in the downtown areas.  There are so many wonderful subjects to explore with your eyes and your lenses.  Cobblestone streets, fountains, decorated window boxes, and amazing architecture are just some of the things you can find to photograph.  I can easily spend an entire day photographing downtown and find that I only begin to scratch the surface of what can be discovered there.

One of my favorite places downtown is White Point Garden.  Before I was a photographer, I purchased a photograph of the gazebo located at White Point Garden.  I also own a print titled A Magical Moment by Madeline Carol that includes the gazebo and surrounding scene at White Point Garden.  This spot is very significant to me as I have spent many important times in my life at this garden.  It is no wonder I am drawn to this spot again and again.

On the morning of my most recent visit, I allowed my eyes to lead me to a scene I had not previously photographed.  The light seemed to be dancing in one corner of the garden.

The garden was very quiet in the early morning.  The few visitors to the garden were walking their dogs.  While the garden was quiet, it would not be long before the bustle of tourists would be taking advantage of all of the beauty of the garden.

After visiting the garden, I started walking down the streets to see what treasures I could discover along the way.

I was photographing just after Easter, so many of the churches were still decorated.  I loved this view into one of the churches.

The azaleas were nearing the end of their magnificent display for this spring on the day I photographed downtown.

I thought the petals on the ground were just as beautiful as the ones still clinging to the bushes.  I enjoyed saying farewell to the azaleas in Charleston until next spring.
