Now that I have finished my summer travels, I have time to relive my experiences through the pictures that I was able to capture.  My first trip of the summer was a family vacation to California.  We started our week-long adventure in

My family and I were not as prepared as we should have been for how cold it is in June in San Fransisco.  Luckily, we had some long pants and jackets with us.  They came in quite handy.  It was twenty degrees cooler in San Fransisco than the other places we visited in California that week.

One of the things that we did to give us an overview of the city was to take one of the double-decker bus tours.  I found this to be a wonderful thing to do as it gave us an overview of the city, some history,  and took us by places that we made a note to revisit on our own to further investigate.

During the bus ride, I enjoyed photographing the light as it danced across the buildings.

San Fransisco has the oldest Chinatown in North America.  After driving through Chinatown on our bus tour, we ventured back on our own to shop and photograph.

One of our favorite places to visit during our stay was Fisherman’s Wharf.  There was so much color to be found there.  We also found some delicious lobster rolls to enjoy along the way.

Pier 39 was a wonderful spot early in the morning.   We went specifically to see the sea lions.  You can view a live webcam of the sea lions at Pier 39 here.  When we were there, the sea lions were not very active.

One of our last stops while in San Fransisco was Lombard Street.  It was easy to see why many refer to Lombard Street as the crookedest street in the world.  It is challenging to drive on Lombard Street.  It is also extremely challenging to photograph.

If you arrive early in the morning, you can get a photograph of the street without cars and people.  Since hydrangeas are my favorite flowers, I loved the beauty of this street!

If you get a chance to visit San Francisco, I highly recommend the bus tour to get an overview.  Then find the spots you want to revisit for a closer look.
