We had a great night with some great friends, but today we are on to a place I have been worried about since I started planning this trip. Death Valley, with a very appropriate name, reaches temps I was not looking forward to. We found a camp ground, near Death Valley but up in the mountains, so we were hoping for a break in the temperature. We left Reno early in the day, and with a 5 hour drive ahead of us we skipped our daily breakfast routine and grabbed some snacks on the go.
A small tourist town about an hour and half from Death Valley, Lone Pine, California was where we found our campsite and with the temperature well over a 100 it was clear this would not be our mountain oasis I was hoping for. We set up camp, and made our way to town for some food and air conditioning.
We made a plan for the night and where we wanted to shoot the Milky Way, and even came up with a better plan for the next few days. We decided to skip Death Valley and head to Zion early. By moving up my schedule a little it enables to me have a little more time in the states I was unable to get because of weather, so it worked out perfect for me.
