“Learning to distance yourself from all the negativity is one of the greatest lessons to achieve inner peace.”

Spending time in the natural world has already given me a sense of peace. The sounds, smells, and sights of the natural world
can transport me from any worries I have at the time. Now, more than ever, I find comfort in nature.
Recently, thanks to my husband, Randy, and my brother, Paul, I was able to take a trip to the Charleston area. It is one of my favorite places on the planet. While there, Randy and I visited Botany Bay Plantation Heritage Preserve and Wildlife Management Area, located on Edisto Island, SC.
I could spend a lifetime photographing at Botany Bay. It is truly a visual wonderland!
Randy and I arrived in time to photograph sunrise on the beach. Although there was not much color in the sunrise, there were wonderful clouds which made things interesting.
The number and variety of shells on the beach are incredible. The shells are protected. Although they cannot be taken from the beach, visitors to Botany Bay arrange shells throughout the island on the trees.
On the way out of Botany Bay, I stopped to photograph the tree lined drive. I decided to overexpose the scene in order to create what I was seeing and feeling as I left. I left the Botany Bay area feeling lighter, the weights of the world lifted for the time being.
As my world gets “smaller” I will continue to find peace in nature. It is as close as a step out of my back door.
I hope you will also seek peace in the natural world.
